Contra lo que puede pensarse comunmente, Rip this Joint no es una alusión al porro, sino que incita a poner patas para arriba a un local de música a puro Rock And Roll.
Y escuchando el ritmo desenfrenado, no cabe duda que es un homenaje de los Stones a sus raices más profundas, a esos podridos rockarolles acuñados vaya uno a saber en que clubes de mala muerte de Memphis o Nueva Orleans
Las guitarras de Keith Richards y Mick Taylor son pura adrenalina, pero lo mejor son los bronces de Price y Keys y el piano del 5° Stone, Ian Stewart

Rocks Off
Exile empieza con pura energía, con Rocks Off y una letra que habla de la frustración sexual:
"estaba haciendole el amor a una bailarina amiga anoche", canta Jagger "pero no podia mantener el ritmo y ella parecia en cambio acabar cada vez que se contorsionaba sobre mi"
El tema alcanza la mejor parte con la participación de los bronces de Bobby Keys y Jim Price, viejos amigos de los Rolling Stones. Asi comenzaba Exile on Main Street:

Historia de Exile on Main Street Parte 3
Exile on Main Street The Rolling Stones
Parte 3
Las sesiones de Nellcote se prolongaron durante 6 meses y los temas resultantes se sumaron a algunos de las sesiones previas de discos anteriores.
Los Stones, para Exile on Main Street tenian 15 canciones, las suficientes para llenar un album doble (como de hecho fue después)
La grabación se completó poco después, en Los Angeles, donde también se realizo la mezcla, y el 12 de Mayo de 1972 finalmente Exile on Main Street llegaba a las bateas de las disquerias
Como suele suceder con los grandes albumes, la reacción del público y de la prensa suele ser lenta:
Se habló de lo caótico del sonido y que la voz de Mick Jagger sepultaba la mezcla
A los escribas le llevo un buen tiempo reconocer que Exile on Main Street era un disco realmente excelente, como se lo considera hoy en día (en cualquier ranking de mejores discos de la historia esta en el Top Five. Es Exile on Main Street el mejor disco de la historia? Que les parece? Escucho comentarios...)
